Its first patent was acquired by the European pharmaceutical company: Daiichi Pharmaceutical ltd in the year 1987. Levofloxacin received the approval of United States FDA on December 20th, 1996. How Is This Drug Used?

Levofloxacin can be administered in the form of tablets, oral solution, injections and can also be used in the form of eye or ear drops.

The tablets can be taken orally in doses of 250 mg to 750 mg daily, or depending on the severity of infection.

Levaquin can also be given through injection and the dose is 250 mg / 500 mg administered through slow infusion for 60 minutes after every 24 hours or 750 mg given over 90 minutes every 24 hours, or depending upon the severity of infection.
